'Swimming upstream,' white supremacist groups still strong
(CNN) -- Hundreds of white supremacist groups are active in the United States today and are experiencing a kind of resurgence, experts say.
They are in the spotlight this week in the wake of a deadly shooting at a Sikh temple outside Milwaukee. Authorities have said they are looking into whether the gunman, who was killed, had ties to such a group.
Who are Sikhs?
"I know they're out there. I try not to alarm the public too much, but it's something that really needs to be taken a hold of now because more and more we see facts coming out that this is happening more often and more often, and it's not going to stop anytime soon," said David Gletty, who worked as an undercover informant on extremist groups for the FBI.
Currently, there are more than 1,000 hate groups in the United States, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks them and says it was tracking the Wisconsin gunman for years before the attack.
Wade Michael Page, 40, was a "frustrated neo-Nazi," said the center. His tattoos included the Celtic cross adopted by white supremacist groups, and he was a member of two "racist skinhead" bands, it said.
In addition, he was associated with Hammerskin Nation, according to Mark Potok, director of the center. "Hammerskins are the scariest, most violent skinhead group out there. So Page was in the middle of a scene that really was very violent, hyperpolitical. And he was not on the fringes of this scene. He was really in the thick of it."
On its website, Hammerskin Nation says it is "a leaderless group of men and women who have adopted the White Power Skinhead lifestyle." It adds, "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for White Children."
Jack Levin, a professor of sociology and criminology at Northeastern University in Boston, pointed to several factors behind the strength of white supremacist groups, including a flagging economy and the election of the country's first black president.
"During tough economic times, the credibility of mainstream, conventional institutions and leaders declines dramatically and what happens is that more and more Americans have given up resolving their problems in the middle and have gone to the extremes," he said.
Remembering the shooting victims
But there's a twist.
While the number of white supremacist groups is rising, the overall impact on membership is not clear, said Levin.
That's because the groups, while there are more of them, are smaller, he said, adding that their splintering makes the cells more dangerous and difficult to disrupt.
"It's harder for the FBI to find an informant. It's more difficult for them to infiltrate. A small number of good friends can do incredible damage," said Levin.
Mark Pitcavage, director of investigative research at the Anti-Defamation League, said right-wing extremism is experiencing a resurgence.
But to grow, white supremacist groups have to buck a long-term trend toward inclusion, he said. "For the white supremacist movement to expand, that's swimming upstream."
A kinder, gentler KKK?
And that's hard.
According to Levin and Gletty, one of the principal ways the groups recruit is through far-right music.
"The music is a very creative tool and a very important tool for bringing in the youth. They bring in these kids that are on the outskirts of society that feel rejected by society ... They brainwash them into believing that hate is the way to go and following them is the only way to go," said Gletty.
"There are many teenagers who commit what I would call thrill hate crimes," said Levin. "Often, they're inspired by the white power rock lyrics and the literature of white power groups. They may not themselves be members of these organizations, but they are influenced by them."
In such a way, white supremacist groups can have an impact greater than their numbers.
"We have 300 million (people) in this country, so even the fringe of the fringe is a lot of folks," said Pitcavage.
Potok said he believes that in the coming months and years, "We are looking at the very real possibility of more domestic terrorism along these lines. We've seen it in Europe as well as here. I think this is accelerating, not decelerating."

Current U.S. Racism Status:
There are at least 1,000 racist groups within these United States of America, who walk the same streets that all the non-racist whites walk. What happens when a non-racist white meets a racist white?
One thing for sure, when the non-racist white meets the racist white, the non-racist white, doesn't go report the racist white to the authority just to ensure that the authority documents that the racist white is annotated and documented as being a racist white.
What happens when a non-racist white meets a racist who is black or hispanic? The non-racist white, run and tells all his white friends, the authorities, the local PTA, his church minister and all the members, he tells the racist whites as well.
What happens when a non-racist white witnesses a racist white assault a minority, a woman, a jew, or any one else? He does nothing, he keeps his mouth shut, and maybe after he gets home, he may tell his wife or his brother or father, but he doesn't tell the authorities.
What happens when a non-racist black witness a racist black assault a white person? I couldn't answer that because I have never met a racist black person, and I don't know anyone who knows a racist black person, however, if I saw a racist black person commit any type of crime, irregardless if it's a racist crime or a crime of any kind, I'd report it to the authorities because by allowing any man to commit a crime and do nothing, I condone his mal behavior, and anyone with mal behavior will eventually point their mal behavior at me...., and it will be my fault that I didn't do anything in the past when I witness his mal behavior.
White Elected Officials are Inciting Racism
4 years ago, Hillary Clinton made a statement in West Virginia during the Democratic Primary run up, that spoke directly to the white blue collar hard working caucasians, suggesting that candidate Obama could not represent people of their kind. Obviously, non-whites in the U.S. read right through that statement. Trust me, a racist innuendo is detected by non whites like a dog sniffing for a bone with good flavor on it.
Over the past 3.8 years, the entire Republican Party have used inciting comments intentionally to stir the foundation of racism in the white men, all across the U.S., because the Republicans fully understand that their numbers are far to small to win in 2012 without 100% of the white vote, plus some possible other race votes, as well as ensuring that some minorities "do not vote".
Thus, for the past 3.8 years, inciting the racist foundation of the U.S. has worked very well, in that, more and more racist groups are taking action, and so far, the Jim Crow voting laws are decently effective.
A Dangerous Future Lay in the waiting for Racist
The most effective tool that was used against blacks in the 1960s was the ratio of whites in the U.S., compared to the number of blacks. That Ratio has completely been removed as a result of Blacks & Hispanics having to fight the same fight of racism with whites since 1975.
The Second most effective tool used against blacks in the 1960s, and all the years prior, was the fact that whites had all the positions of authority, to include jobs like the sheriff and all officers, the judge, the lawyers, the mayor, the congressmen and the senators, in all states. The President is "black" and the top law enforcement officer in the U.S. is "black".
The Third most effective tool used against blacks in the 1960s, and all the years prior, was the lack of quality educational environments that were open to blacks, ensuring that their lack of education ensures that blacks remain controllable. Blacks attend college and graduate at a rate of 6 black females graduated for every 1 white man that graduates today.
Future Facts
Today, 3 out of every 5 babies born today are non-white and non-hispanic, indicating that 3 out of every 5 babies born today is either black or mixed with any combination of races. By adding the Hispanic births in the U.S., that rate could be guesstimated at perhaps, 7 out of every 10 children burn in the U.S. is a non 100% white person.
Conclusion
Non-100% Pure Whites numbers are shrinking exponentially in these United States of America, which ensures that the number of voting 100% whites will become the "minority" much faster than was estimated as early as 2 years ago.
Ramifications of the changing U.S. Demographics
The Education of the political arena for minorities started 4 years ago, and based on the demographics that currently exist and the projected demographics, 2012 is the last American election that will allow whites to have an opportunity to influence the U.S. National Elections.
Projections
2016 will be the first elections that will start the new American National Elections that demand that an elected official is non-bias to any specific race, nationality, or sexual preference.
2020 will be the election that marks the future path of the U.S., a path that forges a new type of America, with no more dominance by any one race for the future history of the U.S. and it's entire future.
Summation
White Racist Groups are all over the U.S., and it's the non-racist-whites who have done nothing that would suggest that anything other than condoning the acts and actions of racist on any non-white American Citizen.
As the U.S. Population continues to grow "non-white", the neo-nazi's will continue to exist, yet, their numbers will dwindle by attrition, and in the post 2012 elections, racist groups will start becoming the hunted by the new leading mixed race population in the U.S., and these hunting methods used by the mixed race, will equal the degree of brutality that has occurred in the U.S. by the racist's implementation of terror on the non-whites.
The Harsh reality of the non-racist whites who said nothing or did nothing that could be considered "acting humanely" against the racist whites, will find themselves in a equally as challenging position when the new leading race commence acts of revenge against all whites who belittle their mother and grandmother.
The non-racist whites will benefit from the attacks of whites, by revenge seekers, just as the non-racist whites benefited from the racist's whites actions, in that, non-racist white's benefiting from being white, as racist whites abuse minorities, will place the non-racist in the racist whites category by default, thus, non-racist whites may be hunted as well.
