TRENDING: Gingrich to gay man: Vote for Obama
(CNN) - Asked how he plans to engage the gay community in his bid for president, Newt Gingrich on Tuesday told a voter he wouldn't be the right choice for those basing their decision on the issue of same-sex marriage.
"If that's the most important (issue) to you, then you should be for Obama," Gingrich told Scott Arnold, a man who identified himself as gay.
"Okay. I am, but thank you," Arnold replied.
The comment ended a rather cordial exchange between the two at a campaign stop in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Arnold, an adjunct professor at William Penny University, approached the former speaker, asking Gingrich how he would sway voters who disagreed with him on same-sex marriage.
"How do you plan to engage and get the hope of gay Americans and those who support them?" Arnold asked.
Gingrich replied saying he doesn't expect to get the backing from voters solely focused on changing the definition of marriage.
"And I accept that that's a reality," Gingrich said.
Gingrich has frequently taken a conservative line on the issue. Last week, he signed a pledge with the National Organization for Marriage, promising, among many things, to back a constitutional amendment defining marriage between a man and woman.
"On the other hand, for those for whom it's not the central issue in their life –if they care about job creation, if they care about national security, if they care about a better future for the country at large-then I think I'll get their support," Gingrich said.

Today is
Having Great Character Ought To Be
The Goal Of A President
Ones Character matters to the extent of the individual's participation in one's life as a Individual or as a public figure.
To the extent that an individual does not intend to participate in the public arena, ones character matters, in that, ones character encapsulates ones personality, intelligence, convictions, honesty, humor, values and ones awareness of others feelings.
Having good character ensures that most individuals will, more often than not, do the right thing, 80% of the time. Character isn't a word that most use in discuss on a regular bases but, character is the word that means the most when you want to describe a person when you want to use "one defining & all encapsulating" term.
Public Figure's ought to have 3 times the great character as the non-public office seeking individuals, because, public figures are in control of huge sums of money, great power and a lot of influence. Anything less than "tripple great pubic character" for public office seekers is absolutely unacceptable.
Its each individual's responsibility to ascertain the character of each official running for public office, and make good, prudent judgment, when selecting the public official, because your bad decision affects more than just yourself.
Good Character in a person means that a person would:
Hold the door open for someone
Present a polite disposition unless provoked
Tell the truth even when it hurt feelings
Tell the truth even when it causes he or she to be judged
Ask permission first and respects a "no" for an answer
Choose to not intentionally hurt another's feelings
Ask for for forgiveness
Forgives when harmed
Conscientiously decides to not commit adultery
Not Steal, Mislead, or degrade others to prop ones self up
Be the Example at all times
Bad Character in a person means that a person would:
Lie to protect his or herself
Misrepresent when asked questions that provide incite
Show very little respect for others and others feelings
Shows very little respect for others possessions or items
Borrow without asking first, and lie when asked
Spread Rumors or make unsubstantiated comments
Swears A lot, and is a abuser of others
Display Selfishness at most occasions
Be Unwilling to work hard for recognition
Demands recognition when small tasks are accomplished
Gets offended when told "No"
Show dissatisfaction when his or her way are denied
Have Bigoted ways or racist beliefs
Display Spoiled Behavior or mal behavior
For Mr. Gingrich to not understand that the President Of the United States of American, which includes all 330 Million U. S. Citizens, then perhaps his character isn't at the level that he ought to strive for to represent this country.
If a man states that he doesn't represent a gay male, he may also say that he may not represent a Hispanic, a Black, a Catholic, a Jew, a Italian, a Asian or so on.
Bottom line, Mr. Gingrich is a man of bad character, as displayed many times in the past, but, to be obnoxious in person to a gay man, who is simply attempting to make his presence known, is a sign of a man that would behave 10 times worse behind close doors, such as bigoted and racist behavior.
Gingrich is a man of "Bad Character"
In My Opinion
